Ok, have written up some notes about our food and drink situation to try and get things a bit more organised so it's easier to know when to do FAL runs, easier to price the runs, and easier to keep track of stuff...
Candy:
- Fizzers (both flavours, or just one?)[/*:m:35dqx11r]
- Lollipops[/*:m:35dqx11r]
Is it worth stocking both flavours of Fizzers?
The orange ones are much more popular last I checked...
Chocolate Bars:
2 items from this list:
- Double Dipped Cherry Ripe (the normal ones sell OK, but not as well)[/*:m:35dqx11r]
- Caramel & Nuts Boost (the normal ones sell OK, but not as well)[/*:m:35dqx11r]
- Caramel Chunky Kitkats[/*:m:35dqx11r]
- Mint Aero [/*:m:35dqx11r]
I think it's worth switching down to just 2 types of chocolate bar, especially during summer when they're likely to be a bit melty. It also makes it easier to only offer items which are super popular.
The list of chocolate bars is open to changes and additions, and may change due to availability or special prices...
Chips:
- Salt 'n' Vinegar[/*:m:35dqx11r]
- Twisties[/*:m:35dqx11r]
We could occasionally switch flavours of chips, but I think these are by far the most popular.
I don't think it's worth having more than 2 chip products, given the space they take up.
Drinks:
- Coke[/*:m:35dqx11r]
- Coke Zero[/*:m:35dqx11r]
- Mountain Dew[/*:m:35dqx11r]
- Water[/*:m:35dqx11r]
- Energy Drink (usually Smart Energy)[/*:m:35dqx11r]
- Ginger Beer[/*:m:35dqx11r]
- Solo or Fanta[/*:m:35dqx11r]
Since we're likely to have a bigger fridge soon and we're going in to summer, I think it's worth keeping this wide a range of drinks. Also, drinks don't expire for ages.
The energy drinks have been a decent seller and since we only buy them when they're on special, they have a good profit margin. Ditto for water.
Restocking:
I don't want to over-organise things here too much, really. Keyholder Reports let us keep a pretty good idea of what we are running low on or out of... Once we're out of say, 5 things, we do a run. If we're out of all of one category and it's in demand (which if we've run out of it, it probably is), we do a run. e.g. if we have no chips, or no chocolate bars.
I'll probably get slammed for this, but we can wait until we have the bank account and a better idea of our finances before thinking of it too much... I think it's worth allocating a certain amount of money or items per run to take advantage of EPIC SPECIALS. Not just the regular specials, but the awesomely cheap ones they sometimes have. Maybe a max of 2 items (boxes/cases/etc) of extra stuff, if we don't already have extra stuff in the office. I think it's definitely worth saving money / making more profit, even if it means not adhering to a super strict stock loadout.
I think we can keep F.A.L runs costing us under $200 without much problem. And remember, we make decent continual profit from it...
Other:
With summer on the way and the possibility of us getting a new fridge with decent freezer space, I think it would be worth considering stocking some ice-creams and icy-poles. I can look into this next time we do a run to get an idea of pricing.
Please follow up with suggestions / opinions / etc![]()
